Babak Mamaqani

Babak Mamaqani, Ph.D. is a licensed civil engineer with over 15 years of experience in the design of various structures including temporary and permanent earth retention systems, construction platforms, slope stability systems, deep foundations as well as wood-frame structures.

Mamaqani is an active member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and the Deep Foundation Institute (DFI). He has published several technical papers in the field of structural and geo-structural engineering for deep foundation conferences and structural engineering journals.

He used his passion, experience, and knowledge in structural and geo-structural engineering to start his company, STRUCTICA, Inc to better help his community in both private and public sectors with its structural engineering needs.

Before founding his company, STRUCTICA, Inc., Mamaqani served as a chief engineer in PB&A, Inc. During his career with PB&A, Inc., he managed the design of temporary earth retention systems with the height of approximately 100 ft for five metro stations as a part Regional Connector Transit Corridor (RCC) and Westside Subway Extension, Purple Line (PL) located in Los Angeles, CA. The project was recognized by DFI as the outstanding project award runner-up in 2021. An article about one of the stations, 2nd/Broadway, was recently published in DFI magazine in the edition of March-April 2022.

During that time, he has also managed the design of one of the tallest permanent soil nail walls in the US with a maximum height of 100 ft. The project was located in Fashion Valley North, San Diego, CA. A paper and a PowerPoint presentation were published at DFI 46 conference.
